So often, if you’re unhappy with something in your home, there are other solutions than to pick up and move. These next clients, located just off of Fern Avenue in Shreveport had a lovely home! Though it was perfectly well kept, they really wanted a guest room, and the main issues: they HATED their master bathroom and laundry room!
They loved the location, but dreamed of a more updated, spacious, mastery master suite!
Solution? We relocated the master suite to the opposite end of the house, creating a U-shaped floor plan. This new layout gave these parents-of-two a brand new bathroom, closet, bedroom, and a jazzy new laundry room (not to mention, a little bit of space from the kids)!
Here are the before pictures. These are taken outside the home! In these two shots, we are actually standing right behind what was the master bedroom and bathroom, looking into what will be the addition.
This before angle is shot from standing where the addition is now!
Here is the only picture I could find of their bathroom before (oops)! The main complaint was the teeeeeeeny tiny grout lines that were everywhere! Floors, shower walls, countertops, etc. VERY hard to clean!
And here’s a picture of the old laundry situation….
It was located outside, just off of their garage and had zero personality.
And here’s the big reveal! (The homeowner wanted me to add this disclaimer: their master bedroom was not decorated when these pictures were taken!)
New hallway added--the back wall of the kitchen you see to the right was the previous back wall of the house! Floors were laid to match existing!

The goal of any addition for us is for it to look like it has been there all along! Seamless transitions, so that, from the naked eye, you wouldn’t be able to tell what was there before and what we added! Other than lightening up the new bathroom, we tried to keep with the same color palette! We kept the same trim color throughout!
With that being said, here is a picture from the back of the house AFTER the addition (minus the tree, obviously)!
